Student behaviour and code of conduct

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Student behaviour at the Return to School Centre must be consistent with DEC policy and the expectations of mainstream schools.

In order to maintain the safety and well being of students and staff, the following behaviour(s) will not be tolerated:

  • physical aggression & intimidation
  • racial slurs and/or discrimination
  • theft and/or vandalism/graffiti of property
  • any unsafe behaviour

Students displaying such behaviour will need to be collected and parents/carers will be called immediately to discuss the matter. The students ongoing participation in the program will be reviewed and an instant program withdrawal may be enforced in some instances.

If the student's behaviour or language is inappropriate or disruptive in class, they will receive a caution. When a student accumulates three cautions over the course of a session, parents/carers will be contacted to discuss student behaviour and ongoing participation in the program may be withdrawn if a resolution cannot be reached.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.
